ABOUT ME

I'm Grigorii, a bioinformatician and molecular biologist trained at Lomonosov Moscow State University and École Normale Supérieure – PSL in Paris. My work spans wet and dry lab — I've manipulated 3D genome at the bench and built spatial statistical models in code.

Scientific interests

I'm drawn to the mechanics of gene regulation — specifically how 3D genome topology and epigenetics shape cell identity and development. What fascinates me most is the reciprocity: genome architecture dictates which genes are expressed, while active transcription simultaneously reshapes that architecture. The same logic plays out in the developing embryo, where transcriptional shifts remodel tissue, and new tissue feeds back to alter gene expression. I want to study systems where these feedback loops can actually be traced and measured — through both experiment and modeling.

Hobbies

Outside the work, I'm into photography — with both digital cameras and my phone — and you can browse some of my work in the gallery. I spend a lot of time hiking and travelling, and birdwatching tends to sneak into both. I also play the piano (I graduated from music school in piano and choir) and table tennis.
